The politics of natural gas development in the European Union. The Geopolitics of Natural Gas. Harvard Belfer Center / Rice University, October 2013, 1-44.
This case study is part of a joint study by the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute and Harvard University’s Kennedy School on the geopolitical implications of natural gas. It investigates the various drivers of European gas market developments, and sketches four different scenarios: Rule Taker, Green Power, Come and
Play, and Gas Power. Each of these scenarios represents a specific combination of the following elements: the EU’s liberalization efforts, the EU’s decarbonization agenda, supply security and environmental policies on national and EU levels, and the economic crisis. Read the study.
